Sustainability has become one of Scotch whisky's favourite talking points. Renewable energy, recycled glass, peatland restoration and net-zero targets are now almost as familiar as conversations about casks and age statements. There is plenty of genuine progress behind the claims, but separating meaningful environmental change from clever positioning isn't always straightforward.

It’s a conversation that refuses to die - part poetry, part science, and a fair bit of posturing in between. For me, it’s time we called a truce and sorted out what each corner of the argument is actually about.
